Change is Good. And Bad. And Confusing.
Saw alt. doctor yesterday. We had so much to tell him, between the exam, my husband's concern over my back, and my ever faulty memory, I know I missed stuff.
- Going to the bathroom is taking longer: I was going daily before the first visit - it is now about every
two days, and takes a long time to go. I was totally hooked on the sugary citrucel, and I'm having a bit of trouble adjusting without it.
- I'm on the white pill this week for Apri (my birth control). I wonder if I need to stop taking it. I've been reading that it feeds yeast!
- I was experiencing horrible mid back pain around the kidney area. But there is two kinds of pain for the same area on the right side - the one that still persists is close to my spine and shoots to the right. It does not seem muscular, its like another one of those pellets, but I cant seem to find the exact spot (it's deep within). As long as I keep drinking about 10 cups of water a day or more (urine is pratically clear), I seem to be keeping the rest of the mid back pain at bay. I'm still getting nighttime dehydration though.
On a good note the treatment yesterday gave me lots of energy today! Haven't felt this happy in ages. I have hope.

What to do When You Can't Have Eggs!
Been having trouble finding the EnerG Egg replacer at the local stores - one stockboy told me only "Only californian vegetarians eat that kind of stuff". Schmuck.
So I went looking online for ideas. Heck, these recipes might be cheaper! I put one of the links up - I don't remember where all of them came from though - sorry!
Chef Deborah's EnerG Egg ReplacerEner-G Type Egg Replacer
1 cup potato starch
3/4 cup tapioca flour
2 tsps baking powder
Mix all well.
Store in airtight container.
To use:
1 & 1/2 tsp powder + 2 Tbs water = 1 egg.
1 & 1/2 tsp powder + 1 Tbs water = 1 egg yolk.
When measuring, press powder firmly into measuring spoon.
Egg Replacer
¼ teaspoon of Xanthan Gum
2 Teaspoon of potato Starch
½ teaspoon of oil.

Egg Substitutes
It's not hard to substitute for eggs in most vegan recipes. The substitute used depends on the recipe it's being used in.
Stuff around your kitchen:
1 whole egg = 2 tbsp water + 1 tbsp oil + 2 tsp baking
powder
1 egg = 1 tbsp ground flax seed simmered in 3 tbsp water
1 egg = 2 tbsp water + 2 tsp baking powder
egg white = dissolve 1 tbsp plain agar powder in 1 tbsp water. Whip, chill and whip again.
For use in sweet baking:
Try substituting 1 banana or 1/4 cup apple sauce for each egg called for in a sweet, baked recipe. These will flavour the recipe, however, so make sure banana or apple will taste good in it.
This one isn't good for someone with hypoglycemia or candida, but it is natural - maybe it will be useful later.

Ewwwwwwww!
Well, Dr. V- was right. In just a few days since my visit, the supplements are helping, and I am starting to breathe a little easier. My contstant nighttime mini-fevers are gone for the moment. I kind of feel like my soul is grounded back in my body again.
Now I'm positive what I saw before was parasites -I've just pooped out a few blood-tipped worms (eww!). I was so thrilled (and horrified at the same time) I told my family the news.
I am so glad to be making some progress.
I found a useful link about what Leaky Gut is today. I'll put it up here.

First Impressions: A New Hope
I'm a pain filled bag of bones now, so I'm giving up on my doctors who were playing "Let's try this pill and see what happens - call me in a month". I feel like I'm on death's door.
On the 15th, went to see the alternative doctor I found, Dr. V- . At first I was surprised that the office was not a mammoth building - it was a humble little house. But I liked it...it made me feel comfortable, like I was at home.
Through a combo of what I'd say was a mix of standard/high tech western and really unusual eastern testing he found (amongst *many* other things):
-I have leaky gut syndrome - as a result not able to digest protein, fat, or carbs (anything) right.
-My major organs are FULL of parasites, bad bacterial overgrowth and some yeast (he said I broke the record in his office for number of parasites).
-I've got so many allergic responses going off, my immune system is attacking my own body.
He told me that any regular doctor should have caught this a long time ago - but that (with God's help), he would help me.
I have begun a course of targetted herbal medicines (traded in one bag of pills for another - but these seem to be doing the trick), and am on a super strict lifestyle regimen and diet for detoxification (and I thought my previous one was tough!). I am also going to be going in for detoxification treatment starting this week, and expect to be there weekly for the next 2 months at least.
But you know what was really nice? The doctor actually seemed to care about me as a human being, not just another body on an assembly line. He explained things, took time, and listened well.
Why aren't there more doctors out there like this anymore?
