Welcome to my New Life?
Wow, so much has gone on lately, I've hardly had a chance to blog! Some very good, some very bad.
Bad stuff: Stupid test left my inside so wrecked that we're all quite sure I've been bleeding inside. Ack. It gets worse around the menstrual time (like now)... just gotta hang in there! Dr. V- gave me some new supplements to try which have been very soothing and are quickly stomping down the problem, thank God. Plus I've just added another soothing grain, buckwheat.
Today he's having me see a special doc who came in from Germany! They're going to put their heads together on this - I hope it works out.
On the positive side of things, the New Life Expo went REALLY well - I am so glad I went, for a number of reasons. Stuff I learned there:
From Nomi Bachar - I confirmed that treating both my mind and body is the right thing to do, so I will continue. She is right - you could use all the healing modalities in the world, but if you don't nourish your true self/take care of your emotions, they are merely a crutch that you'll need more and more of. For the first time in ages, I am being true to myself, as I should be.
I also saw that with a little more education, I could pursue a similar career path....
From the essential nutrition lecture - To me much it too was a confirmation of what I know - the more whole a food and less refined, the better it is for your body (ex. more nutrition in 18 cobs of corn vs. 1 tbs corn oil). He had an interesting claim - if I did nothing else but eat 2 tbs of his milled flax a day added to me diet, my hands and feet would warm up and I would return to normal weight. Even more intriguing was that he talked about in the US we eat too much omega 6 vs. omega 3 oils - which clicked in my head. This is probably one of the factors which caused a problem while I did Atkins.
From the Pranic Healing - Though it took awhile to get the seminar started, it was worth the wait! He did some basic treatments to people, what I liked was that it had a method, no guessing games. It reminded me of some of the treatment I receive, except his was entirely no touch (which...I think was kind of sad actually. I think in our culture we are very touch deprived). Other tidbits I picked up:
- Washing hands is not just important for germ killing - it keeps the patients negative illness & energy away (I figure this is why I am always hearing "Drink water, wash hands" all the time!)
- Say "Thank You!" - it is important to express gratitude often, for your sake and others.
I also confirmed I am a sensitive, or HSP - I picked up on a lot of then energy stuff before many people in the room did. When we did the meditation in the room with the chanting... WOW, what a feeling.
Later, at the Heart River Center for Intuitive healing, I felt a similar thing, though they were a little more free form... more loving, if that is possible. They combined touch with no-touch. The woman who treated me said she liked my energy. I've come to the conclusion that I am definitely more than my body - my spirit is quite strong!
I also found while there were things I gravitated toward (energy healing, light/color/sound therapy, psychology/spirit work, building intuition), there were just as many things that repulsed or disinterested me. For example, I could not bear to be around any group which pushed a specific religious tone (that's what I have church for!), and while I like studying cultures and strange phenomena (Egypt, UFOs, etc.) I don't think any cure-all answers are there. In fact, I don't think there is any one magical anything that cures all ailments. You could tell where the gimmicks were. I'm not that stupid or desperate.
There were many genuinely sweet people there who did not try to sell me a product, but instead gave me gems of knowledge. One woman, selling audio CDs for pain relief told me my best bet would be to meditate and use body dowsing (which I later learned is like kinesiology for yourself) instead to help me when I am not sure what to eat (she spent a half hour talking with me! I hope I can find the name of her company - may they be blessed). Another, who treated me with Far Infrared, told me that the simplest thing I could do to help myself - was to breathe right! She spent 15 minutes just showing me how to breathe from my stomach, instead of my chest. 'Imagine how a baby breathes. Their chests do not move, their little bellies just balloon up with air. Breathing in this way helps keeps the organs in place and helps peristalsis'. I realized I have been holding my breath when stressed or in pain!
In short, I got a lot of confirmation, including from a girl who survived Leaky Gut Syndrome, that I am on the right track, with the right people. 'Hang in there, and don't depend too much on any one product or company for everything' seemed to be the goal.

Greedy Bastards...
Just read an article here about how marketers, jumping on the health and wellness bandwagon, and putting pretty looking but meaningless labels on thier food to make it look better... beware!
I know my family is starting to take a really long time to read those packages - I can't take a chance, and they are starting to get the hang of it too for themselves (yippie!). Go check those labels out at
http://www.eco-label.org.

Milestone Reached!
Ah, finally a St. Patrick's day passes without incedent - I tend to have such bad luck on that day! Anywho, this means I have been out of the hospital for a full year... though I just barely made it!
I'm finally starting to detoxify from the CCK test. Although I'm sure Dr. V- wasn't thrilled about it, after several fasle starts, I had to tell him I needed a break from even the treatment for the immune system - I sensed my body just needed a break from everything for a bit. I was having LOTS of spasming.
I need to be at my best, especially this weekend - I am going to go to the New Life Expo, in the hopes to find useful information for myself, as well as for others. I want to explore different healing modalities, and see what feels right to me.

Double, Double, Toil & Trouble!
Man, that test had a domino effect on me! I'm doing my best to take care of myself, but it brought back a lot of the mucus & constipation, pain in places I hadn't felt pain in months....it even forced my period to come, which hasn't happened since August of last year (not sure if this is a blessing or a problem!). It's like reliving a nightmare. But I am doing my damnedest to keep motivated and upbeat.
I got the results back for the CCK. The Gastro's asistant told me by phone that it was only a "minor abnormality" requiring no surgery and no medication. I thank God for that. But she could not explain why the test is causing me so much problem afterward. Over and over she told me how medically necessary it was to do this, and how important it is to do the remaining tests. She asked me why I didn't do this one way back in October when it was ordered. I began to explain, she wanted to know what alternative tests I was doing....I could almost hear my voice hitting a brick wall. It was pointless. I ended by asking to see the results myself.
It may not be "significant" to them, but I think the description speaks volumes....I paid a high price for it, but I believe another piece of the puzzle is in place now. I will review my theories with Dr. V- when I next see him.
In the meanwhile, Hubby has begun to read "Patient, Heal Thyself". He is going to do something I want to do, but don't have the objectivity to do: see what theories match across the best books I've read, combine with doctors recommendations, removing parts that do not apply to me.

Sweet Songs, Fresh Water
The birds are signing again...springtime is appraching. The change in season lightens my mood and makes me feel happier.
One of the other things that makes me happy is a good bath or shower. Today we took the first step to making it safer - we got a shower filter. This one from New Wave Enviro attaches to any shower head you have. I've read a lot over time on how the toxins can get in your skin from the bath water... I hope it helps!
